Frequently asked questions

How does BeatSignal find journalists?+

We analyze your website, generate targeted search terms, and query recent news coverage. Then we filter out PR wires, .edu/.gov domains, company blogs, and social platforms so the results are actual editorial articles by actual reporters.

Where do the email addresses come from?+

Email lookups use standard public discovery services that infer likely address formats from a journalist's name and outlet domain. We surface a confidence score so you can decide when to trust a result.

How accurate are the AI-drafted pitches?+

Drafts read the article snippet and your product description, then produce a short, personalized note referencing the reporter's specific piece. Treat them as a strong first draft — always edit before sending.

Can I bring my own AI model or API keys?+

Not yet in the public product, but it's on the roadmap. If you have a specific setup in mind, let us know on the contact page.

Do you store the emails I discover?+

Only your account-level activity is stored for billing and rate-limiting. We do not sell discovered contact data.

Is there a free plan?+

Yes. The free plan is enough to run a small launch campaign end-to-end so you can see if BeatSignal works for you before paying.

How is this different from a media database?+

Traditional media databases charge four to five figures per year for lists that go stale the moment reporters change beats. BeatSignal queries live coverage in real time, so you're always pitching whoever wrote about your space this week.
